The Goddard School for Early Childhood Development hosts a mom-and-me mini camp incorporating learning in a fun, playful forum. Each class will include play-based activities from The Goddard School’s F.L.E.X curriculum with educational activities geared toward the youngest learners. The class will rotate between Science, Art, Sensory Play, Engineering and Exploring the Earth. All sessions will incorporate child recognition of name, sign language, and Spanish.

The Goddard School for Early Childhood Development hosts a mom-and-me mini camp incorporating learning in a fun, playful forum. During week one, we will learn about engineering by studying bridges, waterways, pulleys and more, using familiar literature or stories to create a memorable STEAM project. During week two, Children will learn about Earth, including what the earth’s layers are, how volcanoes erupt and how fossils are created.

Mindful Makerspace: Managing the World with COVID-19 and Social Distancing One Breath at a Time

Campers will use an everyday mindfulness practice to help manage social distancing. From there, we’ll use the Design Process to imagine and create mindful machines that help us during this time.

Learn to use an everyday mindfulness practice to help manage social distancing. What’s a mindful makerspace? It’s where campers learn to use everyday mindfulness practices and the Engineering Design Process to connect with, identify, and solve problems. They’ll learn to ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and present their designs.

Please note: you will be responsible for providing your own building tools and materials. Paper and pencil, cardboard boxes, clean recyclables, and duct tape are great starting points. More details will be sent upon enrollment.

Splash Into Watercolor

There are so many ways to express ourselves through art. This twice-a-week class will be all about letting our creative juices flow through watercolor!

There are so many ways to express ourselves through art. This twice-a-week class will be all about letting our creative juices flow through watercolor!

Each week campers will focus on a different watercolor technique which will then span across the two sessions of that week. During the first session, we will learn a watercolor technique and experiment based on that theme. During the second session, campers will continue learning about that week’s theme, but through a full watercolor painting. Your child will feel like a painter by allowing themselves to experiment with color, strokes, blending, and more. The heart of this class is self expression through painting!

Join Cricket Azima and The Creative Kitchen online and make recipes from their adaptable kids cooking curricula, Everybody Can Cook! Recipes include Silly Sushi, Chocolate (and Fruit!) Pizza, Playtime Pasta, and Walkin’ Tacos—and, we wouldn’t let the campers miss out on something as fun as Edible Slime!

Don’t worry, all recipes are safe, convenient, and don’t require specialty equipment. Recipes use pantry staples and are easily adapted to include groceries already on-hand. And Cricket will email related grocery lists prior to each class.

In this twice-a-week course, campers will take a deep dive into their understanding of writing for a specific purpose. Each week will focus on a genre of writing that lends itself to a professional career. Your camper will have the opportunity to wear the hat of a food critic, a magazine reporter, a song writer, a poet and many more.

At the beginning of each week, students will learn about a specific type of writing, interviewing professionals in the field via Zoom calls, and delving into examples of that type of writing. During the second session of the week, children will practice writing their own genre-specific pieces with support from Alex.
