Melissa Block (IBCLC, PMC-C) is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). She serves as an administrator for the Chicago Breastfeeding Collective, is the past Vice President of the Northern Illinois Lactation Consultant Association, and co-founded the North Suburbs chapter of Breastfeeding USA.
After nine years in the corporate world, Melissa discovered her passion for lactation support while nursing her first child. Her involvement in breastfeeding advocacy and peer support led her to pursue board certification, the highest credential in the field.
Melissa is TOTS-trained and a member of the International Affiliation of Tongue-Tie Professionals. She has completed extensive advanced education in lip, tongue, and buccal tie assessment and support, including specialized coursework and hands-on training with leading Chicagoland providers. She supports families through every stage of care—from prenatal assessment to post-treatment follow-up—and collaborates closely with medical and bodywork professionals.
Melissa also specializes in bottle refusal and regularly speaks on lactation-related topics while mentoring future IBCLCs.
