With close to 100k followers on Instagram, we’d say Liz Adams of Sequins & Stripes is doing this social thing right. We just can’t seem to get enough of her refreshingly honest (and fashion forward) approach to balancing it all. And big news: she’s expecting a second baby this fall.

We sat down with her to talk candidly about family, blogging, and how it all fits together.

Tell us a little bit about your family these days.

I am a mom to Charlie (21 months old) with baby #2 coming in November 2017. Being a mom has impacted every aspect of my life—how I prioritize things, how I wake up, how I think about everything! Nothing else matters when you become a mom except focusing on the well being of your child. It is all encompassing and truly reflects everything from my relationships, my work and my happiness.

Give us the 411 on Sequins & Stripes.

Sequins & Stripes started as a personal style and fashion blog, but has slowly transitioned into more of a lifestyle blog. I definitely try to keep the focus on fashion but have expanded into lifestyle, travel, recipes, fitness and home life. I studied textiles in college and started my career as a clothing buyer. After feeling a little burnt out I transitioned into a more corporate position and started my blog to keep up with fashion. With brands and retailers now recognizing bloggers as social influencers, it has turned into a career.

How do you manage motherhood and work?

My day-to-day is all over the place! I only have help with Charlie one day a week, so a typical day is spent with him and I work during his naptime or at night. Social media helps me connect with my readers all day long and I’m always updating them on what we are up to.

How has being a mom changed your approach to content?

I never want to look back on a post and regret it. I always want to be true to myself and know that whatever I share is something my son could see one day. I always want him to be proud of me.

What do you think it takes to make it in today’s blogosphere?

Stay true to yourself, be original, fill a void and stay consistent. There are so many people doing the same thing so you have to prove that you are a voice people can trust, relate to and you’re being authentic.

Let’s talk balance. Do you have it?

I think I struggle with this a lot (I’m trying to be better!). But putting my phone away when I’m with Charlie, allowing myself to relax at the end of the day, finding inspiration outside of the internets, taking Charlie on adventures, being outdoors and getting a good night’s sleep!

Your biggest mom challenge?

Trying to do everything well. It sometimes feels like you are balancing a million things at once; keeping your child happy, maintaining your relationships with your husband, family, friends, laundry, work and then somehow finding time to yourself. I am constantly reminding myself to slow down and celebrate the little victories.

In ten words or less, give us your best career-related advice:

Do something that makes you truly happy.
