Alexa Von Tobel on The Mentor Files Podcast with Monica Royer

Alexa Von Tobel is a New York Times bestselling author, entrepreneur, venture capitalist and mom.

Alexa founded LearnVest in 2008 with the goal of helping people make progress on their money. Just seven years later, the company was acquired by Northwestern Mutual for $375 Million, one of the biggest Fintech acquisitions of the decade.

Following the acquisition, Alexa joined Northwestern as the company's first ever Chief Digital Officer and eventually assumed the role of Chief Innovation Officer where she oversaw Northwestern Mutual's venture arm.

Alexa isn't slowing down any time soon. Just last year, she launched Inspired Capital, a venture capital firm based in NYC investing in seed and Series A stage technology driven startups. The firm raise da cool $200 million late 2019 making it one of the biggest debut funds out of New York.

Alexa has appeared on the cover of Forbes magazine and featured in everything from the New York Times to Vogue. She was name to Fortunes 40 Under 40, Fortune's Most Powerful Women and Forbes and Inc Magazine's 30 under 30 list.

Aside from being a 'serial entrepreneur', Alexa also has a family and finds herself loving her work-life balance. 'If you love your job,' she says, 'you're happy, and if you're happy, you have more energy.' The key to keeping a good work-life balance for Alexa is making sure she loves her job.
